The outbid.lol wave · measured 2026-09-09
Every pay-to-rank board, and what it has actually taken.
Hundreds of these launched in a fortnight and every one of them tells you its rank prices. None of them tells you how much anybody has spent. So this page reads that number off the directories that publish it, on a named day, and prints it — including for the board it is hosted on.

Nobody agrees how many there are
4 directories, 4 inclusion rules, a factor of 1.3 between them.
| Directory | Counts | What it means by that |
|---|---|---|
| seethebids.lol | 398 sites | a free directory, explicitly not a board itself |
| outbid.fyi | 355 boards | updated Sep 9, 2026. Its prior public snapshot had regressed to Aug 28; the current stamp and figures have moved forward again |
| leadingboards.lol | 464 verified listings | free to list. Its published count changed from 692 on 09-05 to 464 verified listings on 09-08 |
| rankmarkets.lol | 369 listings indexed | the only one that publishes a ranking model per board |
Every one of those was read on 2026-09-09. The wave is days old, so a count taken next week will be a different count — which is exactly why the number is dated here instead of being asserted.
Five mechanics, and two of them are almost all of it
Over the 100 boards rankmarkets.lol renders, of 369 it says it has indexed.
| Ranking model | Boards | What you are buying |
|---|---|---|
| Pay to climb | 58 | Payments accumulate. Your position is your running total, so a rival passes you by topping up. |
| Highest bid wins | 32 | One number decides it. Whoever is willing to spend most holds #1 until somebody outspends them. |
| Fixed position | 7 | A slot at a set price — a date, a tile, a row. Closer to an advert than to a ranking. |
| Contribution-based | 2 | You pay to enter and then do something to climb. The only model where money is not the whole answer. |
| Ongoing auction | 1 | An open auction that never closes, so the price of the top is whatever the last bid was. |
90 of 100 rank by money alone. That is the thing to notice before you pick one: the boards differ by category — Steam games, AI tools, meme coins, Indian startups, calendar dates — and almost never by mechanic. Why that mechanic ends the race so fast
75 of 100 sell a listing that expires. 25 sell a permanent one. A time-bound rank is a rental, and the price you see on the board is a price per period, not a price.
The boards
Each row’s figures come from that board’s own page, or from a directory row that names it.
| Board | Model | What it is | Read 2026-08-27 |
|---|---|---|---|
| outbid.lol | Pay to climb | The original, and the only one at scale. Products and X profiles on one board; the bid you pay is your position. | Its host answered 429 to every read on 2026-09-02, as it did on 08-31 and 08-27, so nothing about its current prices is stated here. What third parties published: rankmarkets.lol’s row for it prints an entry of $5 and an observed top of $12,711 — 121× the next-highest board in the same sample — seethebids.lol’s row prints $238,741 of revenue and 1,411,967 visitors, and outbid.fyi puts $363K across the whole genre. |
| Outpaid | Pay to climb | Three categories, spots from $1, and you top up the difference to move. | Read 2026-09-09: 3 listings, $4 paid in total, 89 clicks. #1 was held for $2. The clicks were 86 on 2026-09-08. Nothing else moved. |
| topwar.lol | Highest bid wins | Generic products, tools and websites; highest bid takes #1. | No current figure is quoted from it. |
| CalendarBid | Fixed position | Bids own individual dates on a public calendar rather than a rank. | Row read on rankmarkets.lol: entry $5, observed top $23, time-bound. |
| MemeBid | Highest bid wins | Meme coins compete for visibility through verified crypto bids. | Row read on rankmarkets.lol: entry $1, observed top $55, time-bound. |
| Merit List | Pay to climb | Indian startups and products climb through cumulative payments. | Row read on rankmarkets.lol: entry INR 99, observed top INR 0 — nobody has paid yet. |
| OneSpot | Pay to climb | One board, one spot at a time. | Row read on rankmarkets.lol: entry $3, observed top $4. |
| eatup | Contribution-based | Paid claims compete for rank by earning points in a live snake arena. | Own page read 2026-09-09: a one-time $9 claim creates a permanent snake on the leaderboard. |
outbid.lol is not quoted here. Its host answered 429 to every read this run, so nothing about its current prices could be checked and nothing about them is stated. What is on this page from third parties is labelled as such.
Where to get listed, free
All six take a free listing. Three sell placement on top; none requires it.
| Directory | Also sells | What it publishes |
|---|---|---|
| seethebids.lol | nothing — free only | 398 sites. Says plainly "we are not a bid board", and lists clicks and revenue per entry. |
| outbid.fyi | $150/mo sponsor slots, rising to $250 | 355 boards and $363K earned across them, under a stamp that reads Sep 8. Sorts by relevance and labels ghost towns as ghost towns. |
| leadingboards.lol | nothing — free only | 464 verified listings, down from the 692 published three days earlier. It rebuilt as a paginated directory with categories and an Ahrefs DR column, and it has stopped offering the $7-a-day featured slots it sold on 2026-09-02, all three of which were unsold every time we read them. |
| rankmarkets.lol | nothing — free only | 369 indexed, and the only directory publishing a ranking model, an entry price and an observed top per board. |
| outbidception.lol | $79/mo sponsor slots | A pay-to-rank board OF pay-to-rank boards. Read 2026-08-27: its Tool Arena held $6.02 across 7 listings. |
| outbidstory.lol | nothing — free only | Was a timeline of the wave on 2026-08-27; on 2026-09-02 it renders a listing directory and no longer publishes the founder-revenue figure this site used to quote from it. See OUTBID_TRACKED. |
Where OutRip sits, honestly
The board this page is hosted on, held to the same measurement.
It is the only board in the wave where rank is not a number you choose.
You buy a pack and rip it, and your single highest-rated card is your rank. The rating is computed from six published trait frequencies, so it is continuous — there is no ceiling, no top card, and first place is always beatable. Every pack returns at least what you paid in card value, which is the other thing no bid board can say: a losing bid buys a position you then lose.
And the honest half. OutRip opened on 2026-08-26. outbid.lol has traffic we do not have and a year of coverage we do not have. What is on offer here is a board where $5 can take #1 today, and a card with your product’s name on it that you keep whether or not it does.
Deciding between the two? OutRip vs outbid.lol puts the mechanics side by side. If you want the maths behind “always beatable” first, that is how pay-to-rank boards work. Or go straight to the packs.
Questions
The five things people ask before picking a board.
What is the best outbid.lol alternative?
There is no single best one, because almost all of them are the same board with a different noun on it. Of the 100 boards RankMarkets renders on its index, 90 rank by money alone — 58 by cumulative payment and 32 by highest bid. The useful question is not which board is best but which one has anybody on it: the median observed top bid across the 94 boards that publish one is $5, and 4 of them have never taken a single dollar. Pick on audience, not on features. Measured 2026-09-09.
How many pay-to-rank boards are there?
It depends who is counting: the 4 directories disagree by a factor of 1.3. Read on 2026-09-09: seethebids.lol lists 398 sites, outbid.fyi lists 355 boards, leadingboards.lol lists 464 verified listings, rankmarkets.lol lists 369 listings indexed. None of them is wrong; they have different inclusion rules and the wave is weeks old and still moving — every one of these four counts changed between 2026-08-31 and 2026-09-09.
Do pay-to-rank leaderboards actually send traffic?
One of them did. seethebids.lol puts outbid.lol at $238,741 of revenue across 1,411,967 visitors, and outbid.fyi puts the whole genre at $363K. Everything after it is much smaller: Outpaid had taken $4 across 3 listings and 89 clicks when its page was read on 2026-09-09, and of the 94 boards publishing an observed top, 81 have never taken $25 and 4 have never taken anything at all. A board with no visitors ranks you in front of nobody, whatever position you buy.
Is there a pay-to-rank board that is not a bid?
OutRip. You buy a pack of collectible cards for your product and rip it, and your single highest-rated card is your rank. Rating is computed from six published trait frequencies, so it is continuous: there is no ceiling, no top card, and first place is always beatable. Packs are $5, $12 or $59, and every pack returns at least what you paid in card value.
Where can I list my board or product for free?
All 6 directories on this page take free listings: seethebids.lol, outbid.fyi, leadingboards.lol, rankmarkets.lol, outbidception.lol, outbidstory.lol. 2 of them also sell placement on top ($150/mo sponsor slots, rising to $250 at outbid.fyi, $79/mo sponsor slots at outbidception.lol), but none of them requires it. leadingboards.lol sold a featured slot until 2026-09-02 and no longer offers one.
How this page was made, and on which day. The counts, the directory rows and the model / entry-price / observed-top figures were re-read on 2026-09-09: each directory’s own home page was fetched directly and its rendered text read, and the per-board figures were parsed from the 100 rows rankmarkets.lol renders on its index page, of 369 it says it has indexed — so they describe that sample, not the whole wave. The individual board notes above are older: they come from the 2026-08-27 sweep, which fetched each board’s own home page, and are dated inline where they carry a figure. That sweep reached nine of eleven; outbid.lol returned 429 and productontop.com returned 502, and neither is quoted. Every census count moved between the two dates, which is why both are printed rather than one. Outbound links here are nofollow and unpaid: nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.
