1What OutRip is

OutRip is a public leaderboard for products, operated by Compound Labs. You submit a product by its domain, buy a pack of collectible digital cards for that domain, and open it. The single highest-rated card that domain has ever pulled determines its position on the board.

Card ratings are computed from six published trait frequencies by a formula printed in full at /rarity. The rating scale is continuous, so no position on the board is permanent and no card ends the game.

2What you are buying

A pack is a digital good: a fixed quantity of collectible card images generated for your domain, delivered to you immediately on payment. A booster contains 5 cards for $5.

Every pack returns at least the amount you paid, measured in card value. This is not a marketing claim: the value of a pack is checked against the price you paid before any card is recorded, and a pack that could not meet it is not issued. There is no outcome in which you receive less than you paid for. Which specific cards you receive varies, and that variation can only ever increase what you receive above that minimum.

Card value is an internal figure used to describe the contents of a pack and to price the trade-in economy in clause 5. It is not a price, a valuation, or a statement that a card can be sold.

A domain has one owner, and it is whoever opened its first pack. Once a domain is on the board, only that buyer may purchase further packs for it; anyone else is refused at checkout and is not charged. We do not verify that a buyer controls the domain they enter, and a claim confers no rights over the domain itself — it decides only who may buy packs for that row here. If two purchases for an unclaimed domain complete at the same moment, the pack that is opened second cannot be issued and is refunded in full, automatically.

3Cards have no cash value

Cards, ratings, dust and board positions have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be sold, transferred or redeemed — by you, by us, or by anyone else. There is no cash-out. There is no secondary market and we do not operate, endorse or recognise one. Cards cannot be traded between users; the only party you may trade a card in to is us, on the terms in clause 5.

You receive a licence to use and display the card images generated for your own domain. You do not acquire ownership of the artwork, the set, or any underlying intellectual property.

4The published guarantees

These are the guarantees the product makes, and they are enforced in code:

• The floor. No pack returns less than its price in card value.
• The hit slot. The highest-rated card in a pack is always the last card revealed.
• The ladder. 10 packs opened without a hit guarantees a Rare, 25 packs opened without a hit guarantees an Epic, 50 packs opened without a hit guarantees a Legendary. The counter resets when it fires.
• The top of the board is not on the ladder. No amount of spending guarantees first place, the ladder stops at Legendary, and the catalogue in clause 5 is capped below the top. Spending can bring a product into contention. It cannot secure first place.

5Trade-in and dust

You may trade a card in to us and receive 35% of its rating as dust. Dust buys cards from a small fixed catalogue at 150% of rating, while stock lasts. The catalogue sells up to Tier IV only.

A card you trade in is destroyed and cannot be recovered. The conversion is deliberately unfavourable — the round trip loses roughly 4.3× — and we say so plainly on the page where you do it. Dust is not currency, cannot be bought, and has no cash value.

6Refunds

Packs are delivered immediately and are irreversible once opened: the cards are recorded, they may already have moved the public board, and they cannot be returned. Opened packs are therefore not refundable, except where a refund is required by law.

We will refund in full, on request, where a payment succeeded and no pack was delivered, or where you were charged more than once for the same pack. Email hello@thecompound.tech from any address, quoting the domain you bought for, and we will find the order.

If a payment is refunded or charged back, the cards issued for it are removed from your collection and from the board. A position on the board is what the payment bought; a reversed payment does not keep it.

7Submitting a product

By submitting a domain you confirm that you own it or are authorised to promote it, and that it does not:

• infringe anyone’s intellectual property, or impersonate another business;
• host or distribute malware, phishing, or content that is illegal where it is served;
• contain sexually explicit material, or content directed at children;
• promote violence, harassment, or discrimination against a protected group.

The board is public: your domain, its tagline, its card and its statistics are shown to everyone. We may remove any entry from the board at our discretion — including for the reasons above, or where a listing exposes us to legal risk — and where we do, we will refund any pack purchased in the previous thirty days for that domain.

8Your identity on the site

OutRip has no accounts and no passwords. When you buy a pack, your browser receives a signed cookie holding an opaque buyer id — not your domain and not anything about you — and that cookie is what lets you see your collection and trade cards in. Your cards, your dust and your pity ladder are held against that buyer id across every domain you rip for. If you clear your cookies or switch browser, you lose access to the collection view. The cards themselves and the board position are not lost, and you can restore access by signing back in with the email you paid with on Stripe. See the privacy policy.

9Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract to buy a pack. Packs are sold to businesses and to individuals promoting their own products.

10Changes to the set

OutRip is a live product. We may change pack contents and prices, the trait frequencies, the trade-in rates, the catalogue, and the design of the board. Changes are not applied retroactively to cards you already hold: a card keeps the rating it was minted with, and a rating already earned is never reduced by a later change to the tables. Where a change alters what a pack contains or what it costs, the published pages are updated before it takes effect.

We may also stop selling packs, or discontinue OutRip, at any time.

11Availability and liability

OutRip is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we make no promise about the traffic, attention, clicks or commercial benefit a position on the board will produce. The board is a public listing; it is not advertising with targeting, measurement guarantees, or a performance commitment.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising out of or relating to OutRip is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or goodwill. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York.
